Machine Learning Engineer Intern (Trust and Safety - CV/NLP/Multimodal LLM) - 2026 Summer(BS/MS)

About the role#

The algorithm team develops computer vision, NLP, and multimodal models to protect the platform and users from content that violates community guidelines. As an intern, you will contribute to the development of content understanding models to improve the recognition of prohibited content and participate in the optimization of distributed model training frameworks. This is a 12-week internship program.

What you'll do#

• Leverage multimodal large models to explore few-shot and zero-shot strategies for content safety and build moderation models with strong generalization capabilities.
• Participate in reinforcement learning–based data mining and help design Chain-of-Thought (CoT) annotation frameworks to improve the model’s understanding of complex risks.
• Build risk ranking and recall systems to enhance coverage and accuracy in identifying high-risk content.
• Collaborate with product and policy teams to drive real-world deployment and performance optimization of moderation algorithms.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a similar field.
• Solid foundation in machine learning and deep learning.
• Familiarity with multimodal modeling.
• Proficiency in end-to-end algorithm development including data processing, modeling, and evaluation.
• Required experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Hands-on experience with large model projects is a plus.
