About the role#
As a Civil Design Intern at Thomas & Hutton, you will support land-development projects across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. This role provides hands-on experience in civil engineering, allowing you to work alongside project managers and design teams on daily tasks. You will gain exposure to professional workflows, mentorship, and real-world engineering challenges.
What you'll do#
- Prepare site-development plans for various project types.
- Assist with the design of water, sewer, and storm-drainage layouts and construction drawings.
- Help prepare permit packages and coordinate with regulatory agencies.
- Collaborate with engineers and design teams on daily project tasks.
- Support modeling and drafting efforts using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Organize project documentation to support scope, schedule, and quality goals.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- A genuine interest in land development and site design.
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD, with preference for experience in Civil 3D.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational habits.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks.
- A willingness to learn and contribute in a team setting.
Location & details#
- Location: Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (Flexible based on academic commitments).
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
