About the role#
Thomas & Hutton is hiring a Civil Design Intern to support land-development projects. This internship provides hands-on experience in civil engineering while working alongside mentors. You will contribute to projects that shape communities across the Southeast.
What you'll do#
- Prepare site-development plans for residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
- Support the design of water, sewer, and storm-drainage layouts and construction drawings.
- Assist with permit packages and coordinate with regulatory agencies.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and design teams on daily tasks.
- Use AutoCAD Civil 3D for modeling and drafting.
- Help with project documentation to support scope, schedule, and quality goals.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor degree program for Civil Engineering or a related field.
- An interest in land development and site design.
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD, with preference for experience in Civil 3D.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational habits.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks.
- A willingness to learn and contribute to a team.

- Locations: Nashville, Tennessee and Chattanooga, Tennessee.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Commitment: Part-time, rolling term.
- Compensation: Paid internship.
