About the role#
The IT Intern supports daily technology needs at The Well while gaining hands-on experience in information technology administration. You will work closely with the Director of Operations and receive technical supervision from an IT mentor. This role involves assisting with staff troubleshooting, equipment setup, Microsoft 365 support, and technology onboarding. You will learn how technology supports behavioral health services through shadowing, feedback, and a practical improvement project.
What you'll do#
- Review and assist with help requests for computers, printers, tablets, and software.
- Document problems, troubleshooting steps, and final outcomes.
- Prepare and test workstations and devices for staff use.
- Maintain equipment inventory and track assignments.
- Assist staff with Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, and Zoom.
- Perform account, license, and group tasks under direct supervision.
- Prepare technology checklists and equipment for new hires.
- Develop troubleshooting guides and instructions for common staff questions.
- Complete security and confidentiality training, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.
- Complete one approved technology improvement project.
- Participate in weekly mentor check-ins.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent completion of a program in information technology, computer science, cybersecurity, networking, or a related field.
- Equivalent technical training or practical learning experience.
- Basic familiarity with computers, common software, and Microsoft 365 applications.
- Interest in troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
- Willingness to learn device setup, account administration, and networking concepts.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to explain technology tasks clearly and patiently.
- Ability to follow instructions and document work accurately.
- Commitment to confidentiality and respectful communication.
