Visuals Intern

About the role#

The Philadelphia Inquirer is seeking a Visuals Intern for a 9-week, full-time, paid summer internship. This role is designed for students or recent graduates in journalism or communications who are ready to contribute to a professional newsroom covering the Philadelphia region from June through August 2026.

What you'll do#

• Produce high-quality photography and video content covering news, sports, and entertainment.
• Capture both still images and video with a multimedia mindset.
• Pitch and develop creative visual story ideas.
• Collaborate with reporters, editors, and the visuals team.
• Edit and deliver content on deadline.
• Experiment with new storytelling formats and platforms.
• Complete a final capstone project summarizing your experience.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment at an accredited college or university, or recent graduate status.
• Strong photography and video skills, including editing and basic production knowledge.
• Familiarity with digital platforms and online visual storytelling.
• Commitment to accuracy, journalistic ethics, and inclusive storytelling.
• Ability to work efficiently in a deadline-driven environment.
• Curiosity, creativity, and a proactive approach to learning.
• Willingness to travel locally for assignments; access to a car is a plus.
