About the role#
The Philadelphia Inquirer is seeking a Visuals Intern for a 9-week, full-time, paid summer internship. This role is designed for students or recent graduates in journalism or communications who are ready to contribute to a professional newsroom covering the Philadelphia region from June through August 2026.
What you'll do#
- Produce high-quality photography and video content covering news, sports, and entertainment.
- Capture both still images and video with a multimedia mindset.
- Pitch and develop creative visual story ideas.
- Collaborate with reporters, editors, and the visuals team.
- Edit and deliver content on deadline.
- Experiment with new storytelling formats and platforms.
- Complete a final capstone project summarizing your experience.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at an accredited college or university, or recent graduate status.
- Strong photography and video skills, including editing and basic production knowledge.
- Familiarity with digital platforms and online visual storytelling.
- Commitment to accuracy, journalistic ethics, and inclusive storytelling.
- Ability to work efficiently in a deadline-driven environment.
- Curiosity, creativity, and a proactive approach to learning.
- Willingness to travel locally for assignments; access to a car is a plus.
