About the role#
This year-round internship offers the opportunity to work within the ETS UX/CX team. You will contribute to research initiatives, maintain listening post infrastructure, and support journey mapping workshops. This is a hands-on position where you will gain experience with real projects and own specific artifacts. The program runs from January 2027 through December 2027, with a maximum of 1,000 hours.
What you'll do#
- Assist in planning and conducting user interviews and surveys to gather feedback on technology services.
- Synthesize research findings into affinity diagrams, experience summaries, and personas.
- Support the facilitation of journey mapping workshops and help refine service blueprints.
- Deploy and monitor feedback instruments across various touchpoints, tracking response rates and summarizing themes.
- Organize CX data and update dashboard visualizations for stakeholder review.
- Support UX research activities, including usability testing, heuristic reviews, and design feedback sessions.
- Maintain Jira backlog items and document meeting outcomes to keep project artifacts organized.
What you'll need#
- Status as a rising senior or second-year graduate student, graduating between December 2027 and August 2028.
- Pursuing a degree in Human-Computer Interaction, UX Design, Information Science, Psychology, Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- Coursework or project experience in user research, service design, or human-centered design.
- Familiarity with digital whiteboarding tools like Miro, Mural, FigJam, or Figma.
- Basic proficiency in Excel, Google Sheets, and PowerPoint.
- Exposure to survey design tools such as Microsoft Forms, Qualtrics, or SurveyMonkey.
- Experience with qualitative research, facilitation, and project management tools like Jira or Trello.
- A portfolio, coursework samples, or class projects demonstrating your research, design, or analysis work.
- A collaborative approach and a strong interest in how people interact with enterprise technology systems.
Location & details#
- Location: Chicago, Illinois.
- Modality: Hybrid. Employees are expected to work from the office at least 3 days per week, with Tuesday and Wednesday as anchor days.
- Schedule: Up to 20 hours per week during the school year and up to 40 hours per week during the summer.
- Employment: This is a paid internship. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
