About the role#
The Credit Risk Management team protects the organization from counterparties that may pose credit or operational risks. This includes banks, pension funds, and clearing members. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience by supporting the full counterparty lifecycle. You will work directly with Analysts and Associates to monitor risk and contribute to the team's core mandate.
What you'll do#
- Support due diligence and analyze financial statements for bank and clearing member onboarding.
- Assist with Watch Level surveillance by reviewing operational and financial data to spot emerging risk trends.
- Prepare documentation and materials for clearing member risk examinations.
- Contribute to management reporting and analysis.
- Collaborate on special projects, such as dashboard design, process enhancements, or credit rating model support.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a rising senior or second-year graduate student.
- Academic background in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically using pivot tables and lookups in Excel.
- Ability to build and present PowerPoint decks.
- Skill in reading and interpreting financial statements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Clear verbal and written communication abilities.
- A collaborative mindset and high attention to detail.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, 12-week internship for Summer 2027.
- Positions are located in Chicago, Illinois or Dallas, Texas.
- This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring three days per week in the office, including Tuesday and Wednesday as anchor days.
- This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
