About the role#
The Knowledge Management (KM) team at The Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) is responsible for how the organization identifies, organizes, and maintains institutional knowledge. We operate within the Enterprise Technology Solutions (ETS) department using an Agile-scrum model with two-week sprints. As an intern, you will contribute directly to the ETS Knowledge Continuity project, a cross-functional effort to reduce single points of knowledge failure and improve how critical operational and technical information is captured and shared.
What you'll do#
- Support the knowledge risk assessment by identifying domain owners, subject matter experts, and single points of failure.
- Assist in piloting a knowledge capture standard by drafting or formatting knowledge assets.
- Participate in readability validation by reviewing content and identifying gaps or unclear sections.
- Organize and tag pilot knowledge assets to support findability.
- Track action items and maintain documentation for the quarterly risk assessment review.
- Compile baseline metrics and meeting notes for the annual measurement cycle.
- Manage assigned work in Jira and participate in team sprint ceremonies.
- Assist with additional KM team activities as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Standing as a rising senior or second-year graduate student.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Library/Information Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Interest in knowledge management, information governance, or IT compliance.
- Comfort working in a compliance-driven environment where accuracy and traceability matter.
- Ability to conduct structured interviews with subject matter experts to extract undocumented knowledge.
- Strong written communication skills and attention to detail.
- Organizational skills to classify and tag content consistently.
- Ability to follow documented processes and work independently.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with Agile or Scrum concepts is a plus, as is exposure to Confluence, Jira, and SharePoint.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship based in Chicago, Illinois.
- The term is 12 weeks, occurring during Summer 2027.
- We operate under a hybrid work model, requiring employees to work from the office at least three days per week, including Tuesday and Wednesday as anchor days.
