About the role#
The Davey Tree Expert Company is hiring an Arborist Trainee for a summer internship in Solon, Ohio. This is a full-time, field-based position where you will learn from experienced professionals in the green industry. You will work 40 to 50 hours per week, primarily Monday through Friday with some Saturdays.
What you'll do#
- Work alongside experienced arborists, climbers, and plant health care technicians.
- Perform tree pruning, removal, cabling, bracing, and general maintenance.
- Assist with tree and landscape installation projects.
- Operate field equipment safely, including chainsaws and chippers.
- Manage plant health through deep root fertilization, soil care, and pest or disease management.
- Gain exposure to the business operations of a residential tree care office.
- Support client service, sales, and leadership tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Natural Resources, Horticulture, Landscape Design, Forestry, or a related field.
- A valid driver's license. A commercial driver's license is a plus.
- A genuine interest in proper plant care and the outdoors.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn new skills.
- Reliable punctuality and the ability to report to work on time.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
