About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship based in West Chicago, Illinois. You will work on-site as part of a tree crew to learn the fundamentals of arboriculture. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in tree care while working outdoors.
What you'll do#
- Trim and remove trees, including the removal of diseased or dying limbs.
- Perform tree pruning and removal services for clients.
- Practice tree identification and follow industry pruning guidelines.
- Prune, thin, and remove deadwood from tree canopies.
- Install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
- Assist with the removal of hazardous trees.
- Prepare, maintain, and operate equipment such as chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
What you'll need#
- A love for the outdoors.
- Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
- Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR, and defensive driving courses upon hire.
- A background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights is preferred.
- Relevant pesticide or related licenses and certificates are preferred.
