About the role#
The City of Sarnia is hiring a Junior Operator for a full-time co-op position within the Environmental Services Department. This role supports the operation of wastewater and storm water pumping stations, the Water Pollution Control Centre, and various lagoon and waste management facilities. This is a 4-month term working 40 hours per week.
What you'll do#
- Assist Operators with the daily function of environmental facilities.
- Prepare plant effluent samples for laboratory analysis.
- Monitor facility processes and adjust equipment as directed.
- Perform maintenance tasks including greasing pumps and valves.
- Clean and maintain equipment, tanks, and general facility areas such as floors, windows, and restrooms.
- Assist maintenance and compliance staff with assigned duties.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Environmental Technician or Technology program.
- A valid class G2 Driver's License.
- An Operator In Training (OIT) Wastewater Treatment Certificate or the ability to obtain one during the term.
- Ability to work independently and follow safety instructions.
- Strong communication skills.
