Welfare and Self-Reliance Intern

About the role#

The Welfare and Self-Reliance Intern will work within the Humanitarian Services division to gain insights into the operations of humanitarian efforts. This role is designed to provide educational experience by applying academic principles to real-world work settings. Interns are expected to exercise sound judgment regarding Church doctrine, history, organization, and policy while working under the supervision of department staff.

What you'll do#

• Support team members by providing summarized research.
• Prepare evaluation projects for approval.
• Enter data into the Humanitarian Services database.
• Assist with data collection, analysis, and the creation of reports.
• Prepare professional communications and develop training materials.
• Write business processes and procedures.
• Manage projects and perform additional administrative tasks as identified.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an educational institution or graduation within the last year.
• A basic understanding of qualitative and quantitative data collection methods.
• A basic understanding of program evaluation or a related field.
• A basic understanding of international development, public health, education, or economic development.
• A high tolerance for ambiguity.
• Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in verbal and written communication, with technical writing experience preferred.
• Ability to manage time and projects effectively while collaborating with a team.
• Membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and possession of a current temple recommend.

Location & details#

• Location: Salt Lake City, Utah.
• Term: August 2026 – April 2027.
• Modality: On-site, 28 hours per week (Monday-Wednesday in-person).
• Compensation: This is a paid internship.
