Design Intern

About the role#

The Publishing Services Department is seeking a Design Intern to assist in creating visual communication materials that support the Church's mission. This role provides hands-on experience in a professional design environment, allowing you to apply design principles while working under the guidance of experienced designers and art directors. This is a part-time position of 20 hours per week for up to one year.

What you'll do#

• Assist with the design and production of print and digital communication materials.
• Support the creative team with project research, concept development, and design execution.
• Prepare production-ready files and design assets for review and publication.
• Create and update layouts, graphics, illustrations, and other visual assets.
• Maintain consistency with established design standards, branding, and style guidelines.
• Participate in design reviews and incorporate constructive feedback into deliverables.
• Organize and manage project files and digital assets.
• Collaborate with designers, project managers, and editors on various projects.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing or recently completed (within the past 12 months) a bachelor's or master's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Illustration, Interaction Design, or a related field.
• A portfolio demonstrating design ability through academic, freelance, personal, or professional work.
• Working knowledge of core design principles, including typography, layout, color, and visual hierarchy.
• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud applications, specifically InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and apply feedback constructively.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Preferred experience includes designing for both print and digital media, familiarity with production processes, and collaborative creative work. Knowledge of motion graphics, photography, or UI/UX is a plus.
• Must be a member of the Church worthy of a temple recommend.
