About the role#
This internship position within Family Services supports Church leaders in caring for individuals facing social and emotional challenges. The role focuses on providing direct counseling services and consultation that align with gospel principles. Interns work in an environment requiring strict adherence to confidentiality, professional standards, and legal compliance.
What you'll do#
- Provide clinical care to individuals and families under close supervision.
- Offer consultation and maintain positive rapport with Church leaders.
- Document client interactions by maintaining accurate, updated notes in the data collection system.
- Ensure the work environment remains clean, safe, and organized.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a 2nd-year master's degree student in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling Psychology, or a closely related field.
- Knowledge of legal issues relevant to the counseling profession.
- Ability to communicate sensitive subject matter professionally with clients and ecclesiastical leaders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to develop and follow an individual training plan for professional development.
- Ability to provide service in accordance with gospel standards and values.
- Membership in the Church and eligibility for a temple recommend.
