About the role#
This internship within the Family Services organization provides direct counseling services and consultation to ecclesiastical leaders. The role focuses on helping Church leaders care for individuals facing social and emotional challenges by providing resources that align with gospel principles. Interns work under close supervision to assist with issues such as mental disorders, family relationship problems, and abuse. This position requires strict adherence to confidentiality, legal standards, and professional policies.
What you'll do#
- Provide clinical care under close supervision.
- Offer consultation and maintain a positive rapport with Church leaders.
- Maintain accurate and updated notes in the data collection system.
- Ensure the work area remains clean, safe, and well-organized.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a 2nd year master's degree student in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling Psychology, or a closely related field.
- Knowledge of legal issues within the counseling profession.
- Ability to communicate sensitive subject matter professionally with clients and ecclesiastical leaders.
- Proven written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to provide service within gospel standards and values.
- Ability to maintain exacting standards of moral conduct.
- Professional appearance and attitude.
- Membership in the Church and eligibility for a temple recommend.
