About the role#
This position is within the Family Services organization, providing direct counseling services and consultation to ecclesiastical leaders under close supervision. The role focuses on helping Church leaders support individuals facing social and emotional challenges, including mental disorders, suicide, and family relationship problems, while ensuring all resources remain in harmony with gospel principles. Interns must maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all legal and professional standards of practice.
What you'll do#
- Provide clinical care under close supervision.
- Consult with and maintain a positive rapport with Church leaders.
- Maintain accurate, updated notes in the data collection system.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and well-organized work area.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a 2nd-year master's degree student in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling Psychology, or a closely related field.
- Ability to maintain exacting standards of moral conduct and serve within gospel standards and values.
- Knowledge of legal issues within the counseling profession.
- Ability to communicate sensitive subject matter professionally with clients and ecclesiastical leaders.
- Proven written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to develop and follow through with an individual training plan for professional development.
- Professional appearance and attitude.
- Membership in the Church and worthiness for a temple recommend.
