Intern - Data Privacy Analyst

About the role#

This internship provides training and evaluation for individuals interested in the intersection of data privacy and family history research. You will assist in ensuring that the publication of family history records adheres to national and international laws and regulations. The role requires handling complex data sets and navigating legal concepts to support the organization's mission.

What you'll do#

• Apply statutory rules to ensure compliance for family history record publications.
• Review and analyze large datasets using Excel.
• Monitor compliance and systematize requirements for routine laws and policies.
• Create and maintain project tracking tools.
• Maintain a positive attitude when faced with changes and view problems as opportunities.

What you'll need#

• Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate (within the past 12 months) of an accredited university, with a background in Data Science, Computer Science, or Mathematics.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including the ability to identify issues within large datasets.
• A strong understanding of the various types of records used in family history research and their content.
• Keen interest in learning legal language and statutory or regulatory nuances; experience with data privacy rules is a plus.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a strong sense of responsibility to ensure work is completed to a high standard.
• A learning mindset and the ability to stay focused on tasks.
