About the role#
The Liahona Writer/Editor internship is a full-time, paid position based in Salt Lake City, Utah, for the Fall 2026 term (September–December). This role involves 40 hours of work per week and includes medical benefits. Interns will work primarily at the Church Office Building with the possibility of some remote work days.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with staff to plan and develop content for a worldwide audience.
- Write, edit, interview, research, and proofread content.
- Evaluate manuscripts and contribute to the production of magazine content.
- Maintain professionalism while interacting with team members and contributors.
- Participate in assessments of writing and substantive editing skills via portfolio review and potential testing.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a full-time student in an accredited college or university, or graduation within one year of the internship start date.
- Academic focus in English, Communications, Journalism, Philosophy, or Media Studies is preferred.
- At least one semester of college-level editing or writing experience (e.g., newspaper staff, literary journal, writing lab, or professor's assistant).
- Strong skills in writing, revising, copyediting, and proofreading.
- Familiarity with Chicago style and the Church Style Guide.
- A sound understanding of Church doctrine, history, organization, and policy.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and maintain high attention to detail.
- Must be a member of the Church worthy of a temple recommend.
