FamilySearch Image & Metadata Quality Control Intern (Utah-Based)

About the role#

This 12-month paid internship offers professional development for students pursuing careers in information sciences, genealogy, linguistics, history, or related fields. The role focuses on maintaining the quality and accessibility of historical records published on FamilySearch.org.

What you'll do#

• Audit and evaluate metadata and image quality for digital historical records before they are published.
• Conduct data analysis to investigate and resolve record-related issues.
• Apply internal quality standards to ensure consistency across historical collections.
• Collaborate with team members and cross-functional partners to maintain quality benchmarks and improve existing processes.
• Create or update metadata to improve searchability and usability for research patrons.
• Contribute to team meetings and support the creation of training documentation.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in or recent completion (within one year) of a degree program in information sciences, genealogy, family history, linguistics, history, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Russian (reading, writing, and speaking), with experience using Russian keyboard input tools.
• Ability to read handwritten historical documents, including cursive script.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct research and interpret data.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Familiarity with FamilySearch.org tools and the Family History Library Catalog is preferred.

• Location: Lehi, Utah.
• Work Modality: Hybrid (4 days onsite, 1 day remote).
• Employment Status: Full-time paid internship.
