About the role#
The Christman Company is hiring a Safety Intern for our Summer 2027 program in Newcastle, Oklahoma. This is a full-time, paid internship designed to provide undergraduate students with hands-on experience in the construction industry.
What you'll do#
- Assist the safety team with jobsite inspections and identify potential hazards.
- Support the implementation of project safety plans, company policies, and OSHA regulations.
- Participate in orientations, toolbox talks, and safety training activities.
- Document safety observations, incidents, near misses, and corrective actions.
- Observe construction activities to identify risks and promote safe work behaviors.
- Organize safety documentation like job hazard analyses and pre-task plans.
- Track safety metrics and help maintain accurate records.
- Develop safety communications and training materials.
- Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, field personnel, and trade partners.
- Work on safety-related projects and improvement initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time Sophomore or Junior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Construction Management, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with project teams.
- Effective organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to recognize hazards and exercise sound judgment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- A commitment to safety, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Previous experience in commercial construction or leadership roles in student organizations is preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively and complete tasks independently.
