About the role#
The Christman Company is hiring an Assistant Project Engineer Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site in Detroit, Michigan. You will gain hands-on experience by supporting project teams with administrative and technical tasks across various building projects.
What you'll do#
- Provide administrative and technical support to the project team.
- Manage document control, including Requests for Information (RFI) and submittals.
- Track project costs and update schedules.
- Review specification books to ensure project quality and compliance.
- Assist the Project Manager with identifying, scheduling, and logging inspections.
- Help Superintendents prepare daily reports and organize progress photos.
- Update contract drawings to reflect approved changes.
- Support safety initiatives and model safe work practices on-site.
- Summarize key discussions from project, owner, and subcontractor meetings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a sophomore, junior, or senior in a bachelor's degree program for civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Authorization to work in the United States. We do not provide visa sponsorship.
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug and background screenings.
- Previous commercial construction experience or involvement in student leadership organizations is preferred.
