About the role#
This internship exposes students to the core services provided to biological, adoptive, foster, and kinship families referred by the Division of Children and Family Services. You will work with families to assess their needs and develop service plans that promote stability. This role is designed for those pursuing a career in social work or related fields.
What you'll do#
- Work with the Heights Suburban Collaborative team to ensure program deliverables are met.
- Attend Team Decision Making meetings at DCFS to advocate for families.
- Develop and implement wrap-around services and individual service plans.
- Connect families to services based on their needs.
- Maintain an active caseload and input data into the NCIS database.
- Document work, track statistics, and meet program standards.
- Build cooperative relationships with local agencies and community organizations.
- Participate in weekly supervision sessions.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a social work or psychology academic program that requires practicum experience.
- Interest in working with and learning about families in diverse communities.
- Ability to manage an active caseload and maintain electronic records.
