About the role#
The Modeling and Visualization Engineer Co-Op will gain hands-on experience working with enterprise-scale data infrastructure during a transition from Snowflake to Databricks. This role focuses on building actionable metrics and reporting while supporting the administration of analytics and AI platforms. You will work within an Agile environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop reporting solutions and maintain system health.
What you'll do#
- Determine optimal use of DirectQuery or Import mode in Power Query table ingestion.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build enterprise reporting and participate in Agile ceremonies.
- Research and test new tools to improve the efficiency of reporting development and validation.
- Document model schemas, API integrations, and AI governance standards.
- Assist in the day-to-day administration of analytics and AI platforms, including Databricks, Snowflake, and Power BI Service.
- Monitor platform health, data refreshes, and workloads, while assisting in troubleshooting performance issues.
- Support issue resolution by performing root-cause analysis and maintaining documentation.
- Manage user roles, permissions, and access requests according to security standards.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a graduate program for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Foundational programming skills in writing moderately complex SQL.
- Experience creating Semantic Models in Power BI that reference a data warehouse.
- Familiarity with AI concepts through coursework or personal projects.
- Strong problem-solving skills and technical curiosity.
- Ability to document learnings clearly and work effectively in a team-based environment.
- Willingness to learn cloud technologies and SaaS platform operations.
