Modeling and Visualization Engineer Co-Op

About the role#

The Modeling and Visualization Engineer Co-Op will support the development of enterprise reporting during a transition from Snowflake to Databricks. This role offers hands-on experience with cloud and SaaS reporting infrastructure, including Power BI, Azure, Databricks, and Snowflake. You will work within an Agile environment to build actionable metrics and support the administration of analytics and AI platforms.

What you'll do#

• Optimize model performance by determining the best use of DirectQuery or Import mode in Power Query and improving SQL generated for Databricks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to build new enterprise reporting and validate data against existing sources.
• Research and test new tools to improve the efficiency of reporting development and validation.
• Document model schemas, API integrations, and AI governance standards.
• Assist in the day-to-day administration of analytics and AI platforms, including monitoring platform health, managing user access, and troubleshooting performance issues.
• Partner with senior engineers to perform root-cause analysis and maintain operational documentation and runbooks.

What you'll need#

• Current graduate student in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Foundational programming skills in writing moderately complex SQL.
• Experience with Power BI, specifically in creating semantic models that reference a data warehouse.
• Familiarity with AI concepts through coursework or personal projects.
• Strong problem-solving skills, technical curiosity, and an ability to adapt to new tools.
• Preferred: Coursework or exposure to Microsoft Azure, or experience with BI tools such as Tableau.
