About the role#
This position is a six-month co-op program running from January 4, 2027, through June 25, 2027. You will join the Environmental Health & Safety team to gain experience in compliance, industrial safety, and risk management within a manufacturing environment. You will work on-site at the brewery to monitor regulations, conduct inspections, and help improve safety programs.
What you'll do#
- Monitor compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
- Conduct environmental audits and inspections, then recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare and submit required environmental reports.
- Maintain and update compliance documentation, including permits and inspection records.
- Assist with environmental incident investigations and develop mitigation strategies.
- Perform serious injury and fatality (SIF) analyses in production areas.
- Participate in SIF reviews and document identified risks and findings.
- Audit Safe Work permits and review equipment-specific lockout/tagout (LOTO) documentation.
- Collaborate with production teams to reduce workplace risks.
- Create and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for safety and compliance.
- Develop and implement employee training programs.
- Partner with various departments to promote environmental awareness and operational best practices.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program for Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field.
- Intent to continue enrollment after the co-op concludes.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Preferred: Coursework or experience in environmental regulations, safety, or manufacturing operations.
- Preferred: Familiarity with audits, regulatory reporting, SOP development, or incident investigations.
- Preferred: Ability to work independently while managing multiple assignments.
