About the role#
This Co-op Systems Engineer position is based at the Vancouver shipyard. You will join the Engineering Delivery team to support systems integration, specialty engineering, mechanical engineering, and installation engineering. This role involves resolving production-related issues, supporting commissioning activities, and assisting with system power-on and configuration.
What you'll do#
- Support the on-site team in addressing design changes and engineering issues arising during production and commissioning.
- Provide engineering support for installation, harbor acceptance tests, sea acceptance tests, inspections, and system testing.
- Create high-level conceptual designs and scalable solutions for ship design changes.
- Collaborate with the project team, customers, and suppliers to define and implement engineering solutions.
- Assist in risk management, risk mitigation strategies, and the verification and validation of electronic systems.
- Ensure engineering data is correctly communicated to integrated product teams.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a 3rd-year Electrical, Systems, Mechanical, Aerospace, Computer, Civil, Industrial, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering program at an accredited university.
- Prior involvement in design projects focused on electronic or mechanical systems.
- Strong oral and written communication skills for report writing, design justification, and customer interaction.
- Willingness to work on-site in a shipyard environment, including both production and commissioning settings.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a NATO Secret level security clearance and meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program.

- Physical requirements: Approximately 50% office work and 50% field work, including inspections and equipment handling in shipyard or vessel environments.
