About the role#
The AI Electronics Product Design team manages thermal systems for components across Tesla platforms, including vehicles and data centers. This internship offers the chance to work on projects that contribute to team success while gaining technical experience. You will work closely with a manager and mentor in an on-site environment.
What you'll do#
- Apply first principles to solve heat transfer and fluid flow problems.
- Create CFD models to simulate heat transfer and fluid systems.
- Develop new ways to improve heat transfer in various modules.
- Perform test and validation of electronic systems, including low voltage electronics.
- Conduct validation on bench top modules in the lab using instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
- Analyze test data and write summary reports.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Thermal Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Solid understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics.
- Experience with CFD or developing numerical models for thermal and fluid systems.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical or thermal testing and data analysis from projects, research, or previous internships.
- Interest in electro-mechanical product design and finding simple solutions to complex challenges.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and presentation skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Palo Alto, California.
- Term: Winter 2027 through Spring 2027.
- Commitment: Full-time (40 hours per week) on-site.
- Duration: Minimum of 12 weeks, with a preference for an 8-month commitment.
- Compensation: $20.00 to $50.00 per hour plus benefits.
