    About the role#

    As a Software Integration Engineer Intern, you will support the firmware development for battery management systems. You will work on the controllers and firmware that monitor battery performance, power delivery, and thermal management. This role involves ensuring new hardware and features meet safety and performance standards through rigorous testing and system-level integration.

    What you'll do#

    • Design, implement, and test firmware support for new battery management features and hardware.
    • Collaborate with design and development teams to define system requirements, interfaces, and interactions.
    • Break down high-level feature requests into specific component-level requirements.
    • Drive feature implementation and testing according to the firmware release schedule.
    • Use failure mode analysis to influence system requirements.
    • Create validation strategies and ensure automated test coverage.
    • Work across mechanical, electrical, firmware, and validation teams to support new hardware components.
    • Develop and execute firmware integration test plans to retire design risks.
    • Debug system-level issues by analyzing data and source code.
    • Coordinate with manufacturing and service teams to ensure successful feature rollouts.
    • Build prototype test setups to integrate subsystems with simulated and actual vehicle components.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, or Computer Engineering.
    • Graduation date between May 2027 and May 2028.
    • Hands-on experience debugging complex systems with networked microprocessors and software-controlled devices.
    • Proficiency in C or C++.
    • Understanding of mechanical fundamentals and the ability to read electrical schematics.
    • Python, CAN, and Ethernet networking experience are a plus.
    • Familiarity with FMEA and HARA is a plus.

    • Location: Palo Alto, California.
    • Term: Winter 2027 (January 2027 through April 2027).
    • Modality: Full-time, on-site.
    • Compensation: $42.07 - $58.89 per hour plus benefits.
