About the role#
As a member of the Maps and Navigation Validation team, you will ensure that new features and improvements for our vehicles are thoroughly vetted. You will build confidence in our software and assess risks before each release. You will work with a team of engineers to maintain high standards for the performance and reliability of our navigation systems.
What you'll do#
- Become an expert on subsystems within the Maps and Navigation stack to perform validation reviews and risk assessments.
- Write and ship software to the vehicle.
- Build automated systems in the backend to generate and analyze fleet data.
- Define evaluation metrics and create dashboards to support the monitoring and refinement of navigation systems.
- Implement and improve internal tools to accelerate feature debugging and experimentation.
- Orchestrate and optimize tests, simulations, and analyses across distributed compute.
- Work cross-functionally to investigate and fix issues you identify.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science or a related field, with a graduation date between 2027 and 2028.
- Strong proficiency in Python, C/C++, Golang, or Java.
- Experience with Linux/Unix environments and system administration.
- Familiarity with CI/CD systems.
- Experience with large scale data processing and querying.
- Strong critical thinking and communication skills.
- A focus on troubleshooting issues to determine root causes.
- A commitment to improving code quality, system efficiency, testability, and observability.
Location & details#
- Location: Palo Alto, California.
- Term: Winter 2027 through Spring 2027.
- Modality: Full-time, on-site (40 hours per week).
- Compensation: $46.00 - $58.00 per hour plus benefits.
