About the role#
This internship focuses on the reliability of energy electronics. You will follow products from the initial concept through design, manufacturing, and field operation. You will work on critical electronics and power electronics circuit design validation. This role uses hardware design, control, and firmware skills to improve product performance in both industrial and residential energy products.
What you'll do#
- Create customized designs to identify electrical and thermal limits for critical failure modes.
- Design electrical architecture, including circuits, processor selection, and integration.
- Improve the automation of electrical reliability test engineering.
- Perform root cause analysis for power electronics circuits.
- Collaborate on the design and manufacturing of existing and future products.
- Document design requirements, calculations, and power budgets.
- Develop validation plans and verify features and interfaces across various conditions.
- Lead and execute tests for subsystems and components to support detailed modeling and design guidelines.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Experience with Printed Circuit Board design.
- Knowledge of high-performance processors and microcontrollers.
- Understanding of digital and analog circuits.
- Hands-on experience with switching mode power circuits.
- Ability to deconstruct complex test scenarios and solve correlation problems.
- Experience developing reliability tests, such as environmental, mechanical, and electrical stress testing.
- Basic programming and scripting skills.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Palo Alto, California.
- Term: Winter 2027 and Summer 2027.
