About the role#
This internship focuses on the foundational operating systems that power the in-vehicle experience. You will work on the core components of the infotainment platform, including the Linux kernel, bootchain, drivers, and low-level services. You will help build systems that support both Autopilot visualizations and entertainment features for passengers.
What you'll do#
- Architect and implement software solutions focused on performance, security, and stability.
- Trace and resolve complex issues across the entire software stack, from application services to hardware interfaces.
- Debug hardware and software interactions during design, launch, and deployment.
- Develop software tests to improve platform robustness.
- Maintain and improve continuous integration infrastructure.
- Distill vehicle product requirements into actionable software requirements.
- Define system hardware and software interfaces.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Computer Science, Mechatronics, Software Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
- Graduation date between 2027 and 2028.
- Experience with Embedded Linux or Android development.
- Proficiency in C, C++, or Golang.
- Strong understanding of system fundamentals.
- A methodical approach to debugging and a willingness to investigate unfamiliar codebases.
- Ability to drive projects to completion and communicate complex technical concepts.
Location & details#
- Location: Palo Alto, California.
- Term: Winter 2027 through Spring 2027.
- Modality: This is a full-time, on-site position requiring 40 hours per week for a minimum of 12 weeks.
- Compensation: $42.00 to $58.00 per hour plus benefits.
