About the role#
Tesla Finance merges traditional financial planning and analysis with business strategy. Finance teams work directly within daily operations to support both immediate execution and long-term planning. You will analyze data, provide recommendations, and lead cross-functional decision-making with executives and teams across the company. Interns are assigned to specific subgroups based on background and interests.
What you'll do#
- Lead P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow forecast processes.
- Develop and track efforts to improve gross margin and cash flow.
- Manage R&D investments and resource planning for Engineering.
- Evaluate major CapEx decisions, expansion plans, and manufacturing investments.
- Drive cost optimization in product development and lead manufacturing cost improvement initiatives.
- Consolidate business activity inputs to develop financial projections.
- Lead pricing efforts and business planning for Energy Products.
- Manage investments into Sales, Marketing, and Service activities.
- Lead profitability analysis and improvement initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
- Evidence of exceptional ability in ambiguous environments.
- Strong analytical and modeling skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain high attention to detail.
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Collaborative and team-oriented mindset.
Location & details#
- Term: Summer 2027 (May/June through August/September).
- Duration: Minimum of 12 weeks, full-time.
- Modality: On-site.
- Locations: Austin, Texas; Palo Alto, California; Fremont, California; Sparks, Nevada.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship including benefits.
