About the role#
As an Electrical Test Engineering intern, you will work with hardware, firmware, and software to validate products against internal and industry standards. You will join a multi-disciplined team focused on demonstrating the functionality, performance, and durability of new hardware designs. This role requires a hands-on approach to problem-solving and a desire to improve validation efficiency.
What you'll do#
- Design and build custom test equipment, including test PCBAs, harnesses, and overall system designs.
- Manage projects from the initial concept phase through design, assembly, and final commissioning.
- Write and maintain test software to automate test execution, data collection, and analysis.
- Develop and maintain validation schedules to coordinate resources and update program managers on project status.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proven technical experience through academic projects, extracurricular activities, or passion projects.
- A strong grasp of engineering fundamentals, including experience with power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, probing PCBAs, and reading schematics.
- Ability to work independently to drive large projects forward while collaborating cross-functionally.
- A detail-oriented, execution-focused mindset with a strong ability to troubleshoot root causes.
- A hands-on approach to interacting with systems and automating repeatable tasks.
- Preferred: Coding experience in Python for automation and data post-processing.
- Preferred: Design experience with CAD tools such as CATIA, SOLIDWORKS, Altium, or Eagle.
- Preferred: Knowledge of sensors and their applications.
- Preferred: A demonstrated interest in electric vehicles or sustainable energy.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, 40-hour per week, on-site internship.
- The term runs from Winter 2027 through Spring 2027, with a 12-week minimum commitment.
- Locations include Fremont, California, and Palo Alto, California.
- This position is paid and open to students actively enrolled in an academic program.
