About the role#
This internship offers the opportunity to work on vehicle engineering projects across our Battery Electronics, Interiors Engineering, or Drive Inverter teams. You will contribute to the design and development of hardware that powers Tesla vehicles and energy products. This is a full-time, on-site role requiring a minimum of 12 weeks of commitment during the Winter and Spring 2027 terms.
What you'll do#
- Design and own Battery Management Boards and High-Voltage-Controller printed circuit boards from concept to mass production.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, simulate, implement, and debug electrical systems and circuits.
- Develop and experiment with solutions for interior systems, including lighting, switches, and haptics.
- Deliver component designs to support the performance of traction inverters.
- Contribute new technology ideas and build proof of concepts.
- Perform lab work including soldering, prototyping, PCBA rework, and failure analysis.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design and high-voltage power electronics.
- Experience with at least one PCB design software from academic or personal projects.
- Familiarity with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and network analyzers.
- Proficiency in a programming language like C++, Python, or Matlab, and experience with LTSpice or Altium.
- Proven interest in electrical design through extracurriculars, passion projects, or academic work.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across engineering teams.
- Experience with modeling, simulation, test automation, or firmware debugging is a plus.

- Locations: Palo Alto, California and Fremont, California.
- Term: Winter 2027 through Spring 2027.
- Modality: On-site, full-time (40 hours per week).
- Compensation: $20.00 - $50.00 per hour plus benefits.
