About the role#
This internship focuses on the design and development of automation equipment and assembly lines for production facilities. You will work on critical subsystems and contribute to the machine that makes the machine. This is a full-time, on-site role for the Winter and Spring 2027 terms.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to the design and development of new manufacturing equipment and assembly lines.
- Work on Automation Mechanical Design Engineering tasks, including developing and designing new equipment.
- Handle Automation Controls Engineering responsibilities, such as designing and programming control systems.
- Execute project tasks related to stamping die design and development within the Die Engineering team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Proficiency with CAD software like AutoCAD, CATIA, or SolidWorks.
- Programming experience in C++, Python, or SQL.
- Coursework in analog and digital circuits, control systems, logic, and programming.
- Experience with PLC programming, HMI/SCADA, and industrial electrical panel design.
- Familiarity with industrial robots, servo motors, and controllers.
- Experience with CNC machining, FEA, or stamping simulation software.
- A strong interest in building, assembling, fixing, and programming hardware.
- Hands-on experience with power and hand tools.
Location & details#
- Locations: Elgin, Illinois; Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; Grand Rapids, Michigan.
- Term: Winter 2027 through Spring 2027.
- Commitment: Full-time, 40 hours per week, on-site for at least 12 weeks.
- Compensation: Paid internship with benefits.
