About the role#
The Core Infrastructure team supports the Autonomy organization by accelerating the iteration, validation, and release of Robotaxi and Optimus features. You will work on orchestrating jobs across distributed compute clusters and managing Tesla AI hardware. This role focuses on building resilient backend systems that prioritize high availability, throughput, and low latency.
What you'll do#
- Design and implement AI Agentic workflows that span all stages of development, from triaging issues to shipping features.
- Build backend infrastructure to handle iteration and batch processing of inference, simulation, and evaluation workloads using real-world sensor data.
- Influence architectural decisions with a focus on security, scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Set up and maintain monitoring, metrics, and reporting systems to ensure observability.
- Collaborate with Autopilot teams to design and implement backend components for future features.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering degree program.
- Graduation date between May 2027 and May 2028.
- Proficiency in Python or Golang.
- Experience with Linux, specifically regarding networking, virtualization, and filesystems.
- Experience with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes and deployment tools such as Ansible.
- Experience with concurrency programming and data stores like PostgreSQL and Redis.
- Familiarity with CI/CD systems like Teamcity or Github Actions is a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: Palo Alto, California.
- Term: Winter 2027 and Summer 2027.
- Commitment: This is a full-time, 40-hour per week, on-site internship for a minimum of 12 weeks.
- Compensation: $125,000 annually plus benefits.
