About the role#
This internship focuses on the physical design of AI hardware. You will work with the AI Hardware team to drive design blocks and SOCs from early stages through to tape out. This is a full-time, on-site position for the Winter and Spring 2027 terms.
What you'll do#
- Write timing constraints and generate floor plans.
- Implement CTS or semi-custom clocking.
- Perform sign-off analysis, including EM/IR, static timing, LEC, and LVS/DRC.
- Read RTL to understand block micro-architecture and perform modifications.
- Assist with the design of high-performance chip clock distribution.
- Analyze distribution for skew and power supply jitter.
- Construct high-speed blocks from synthesis and routing through to physical and electrical closure.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related degree program.
- Strong comfort with Python, Tcl, or Linux OS scripting.
- Solid understanding of static timing.
- Proficiency in timing and electrical analysis for advanced nodes, including IR drop, power, and high-frequency design closure.
- Familiarity with embedded board bring-up.
Location & details#
- Locations: Palo Alto, CA; Austin, TX; or Fort Collins, CO.
- Term: Winter 2027 through Spring 2027.
