About the role#
The Industrial Engineering team focuses on optimizing manufacturing and material flow processes. As an intern, you will work directly with factory objectives to improve critical subsystems. You will support engineering stakeholders by conducting studies on production equipment, conveyance, and human work. This role involves using data to identify efficiency gains and supporting layout initiatives for both existing lines and new installations.
What you'll do#
- Conduct work measurement studies to optimize factory and material flow processes.
- Develop alternatives for production line layouts and space readiness.
- Perform trade-off, scenario, and sensitivity analyses to support decision-making.
- Identify value-adding and non-value-adding tasks to streamline operations.
- Provide line-balancing options and eliminate redundant tasks.
- Execute capacity studies to identify factors that impact line throughput, such as OEE, headcount, and material handling equipment.
- Make data-driven recommendations for operational improvements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Industrial, Manufacturing, Systems Engineering, or related degree program.
- Exposure to lean manufacturing principles.
- Proficiency in MySQL, basic Excel, and flowcharting software.
- Ability to work in a high-expectations environment.
- Experience in areas such as production control, material flow, process engineering, or warehousing is preferred.
- Bonus skills include 2D/3D CAD, linear programming, simulation, and advanced Excel.

- Locations: Austin, TX; Buffalo, NY; Fremont, CA; Lathrop, CA; Sparks, NV.
- Term: Winter 2027 and Spring 2027.
- Modality: Full-time, on-site (40 hours per week).
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
