About the role#
The Fleet Analytics team works with Tesla's device telemetry to turn large volumes of real-world data into insights. You will partner with firmware, hardware, robotics, and autonomy teams to improve vehicle reliability, optimize designs, and enhance robotics systems. This role involves building production tools, dashboards, and software frameworks that help engineers and AI agents make data-driven decisions.
What you'll do#
- Work with stakeholders to define clear analytical or engineering scopes from vague problem statements.
- Write reproducible data analyses using petabytes of fleet-scale data.
- Build data pipelines that turn ad-hoc analyses into production datasets, applications, or dashboards.
- Design metrics and tools that allow engineers to self-serve data insights.
- Improve internal workflows for data discovery, debugging, and operational support.
- Partner with engineering teams to drive the adoption of the tools you build.
- Write clean, tested, and maintainable code.
- Communicate your methodology, assumptions, and results to technical audiences.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Statistics, or a related technical field.
- Expected graduation date in 2027 or 2028.
- Strong programming ability in Python, Java, Scala, or another general-purpose language.
- Experience working with data through coursework, research, personal projects, or previous internships.
- Ability to reason about technical systems and learn domain concepts quickly.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical work clearly.
- Comfort working through ambiguity and a sense of ownership over your projects.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site internship based in Palo Alto, California.
