About the role#
This internship focuses on the development and optimization of cell manufacturing systems. You will work with a cross-functional engineering team to handle both software and electrical scopes. The role involves field work, troubleshooting, and contributing to projects that directly impact production. You will be expected to work full-time and on-site for a minimum of 12 weeks.
What you'll do#
- Review vendor electrical controls designs against internal safety and electrical standards.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues in the field and implement improvement projects.
- Develop structured, documented, and reusable code for production systems.
- Interface manufacturing equipment with production databases.
- Create 3D and 2D simulation models to support virtual commissioning.
- Validate PLC, HMI, and robot programs alongside the Manufacturing Execution System.
- Maintain and build new features for industrial vision processing software that operates 24/7.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, preferably Mechatronics, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering.
- Basic understanding of electrical control panel design, wiring, and instrumentation.
- Familiarity with coding Microcontrollers or PLCs using languages such as C/C++, C#, Python, or Structured Text.
- Experience with software fundamentals including Git, scripting, CI/CD, algorithms, and data structures.
- Understanding of testing concepts like unit, regression, and performance testing.
- Experience with web development frameworks like React, Node, or HTML5 is a plus.
- Familiarity with 3D CAD software such as CATIA or SOLIDWORKS is preferred.
- Experience with virtual commissioning tools like iPhysics, Process Simulate, or EMulate3D is a plus.
- Proficiency with development tools including GitHub, Splunk, and Jira.

- Location: Austin, Texas.
- Terms: Winter, Spring, or Summer 2027.
- Commitment: Full-time, on-site, minimum 12 weeks.
