About the role#
Terracon is seeking students for Summer 2027 internships to support our specialized service lines, including geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, construction materials testing, and facilities services. Interns work alongside experienced engineers, scientists, and technicians on active projects, gaining hands-on experience in field investigations, testing, and data analysis. Each intern is paired with a mentor to support professional development and career exploration. The program includes a nationwide cohort and a final summit to build your professional network.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with experienced engineers and technicians on field and laboratory assignments.
- Support active project work and observe how technical decisions impact clients and the community.
- Build core skills in sampling, testing, data analysis, and report development.
- Learn safe field and laboratory practices.
- Apply ASTM, DOT, and COE testing standards.
- Assist with proposal development, project management, and quality management systems.
- Participate in a nationwide internship cohort program and a final summit.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in civil, geotechnical, geological, construction, architectural, or environmental engineering, as well as geology, biology, construction science, or related programs.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in office, field, or laboratory environments.
- Ability to learn technical procedures, follow direction, and collaborate with a professional team.
- Coursework or interest in geotechnical engineering, soils, foundations, pavement design, construction materials, environmental systems, or building enclosures.
- Good academic standing, with a 3.0 GPA or higher potentially required.
- Preference for students entering their junior or senior year.
- Interest in hands-on field, testing, and inspection work.
- Availability to return for multiple terms and openness to working across various nationwide office locations are considered a plus.
- Faculty recommendation preferred.
