About the role#
MacLachlan College is looking for a part-time Student Early Childhood Educator to support our Aftercare program. You will work under the guidance of Registered Early Childhood Educators to provide a safe and engaging environment for students aged 3 to 12. This role is a great opportunity for students, particularly those studying Psychology, to gain hands-on experience in a school setting.
What you'll do#
- Support Registered Early Childhood Educators in the daily delivery of the Aftercare program.
- Supervise students during indoor and outdoor activities.
- Facilitate age-appropriate activities like crafts, games, creative play, and quiet time.
- Encourage positive student behavior and respectful peer interactions.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive space for all children.
- Observe students and report any concerns regarding their safety, well-being, or behavior to the lead educator.
- Follow school policies, health and safety procedures, and staff directions.
What you'll need#
- A genuine interest in working with children.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- A reliable, responsible, and professional approach.
- A basic understanding of child development and age-appropriate activities.
- Previous experience working or volunteering with children is helpful but not required.
- Familiarity with the Child Care and Early Years Act or current Standard First Aid and CPR certification are considered assets.
- You must be able to provide a Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
Location & details#
- Location: Oakville, Ontario.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- This is a paid, part-time position.
- Work is on-site.
