About the role#
This is a hands-on, 40-hour per week internship program designed to prepare you for a career in operations leadership. You will work within a Target supply chain facility, gaining a realistic preview of the Operations Manager role. Throughout the summer, you will work closely with a mentor to learn how to lead, motivate, and influence a team while supporting daily business priorities. You will rotate through different areas of the distribution center, such as inbound, outbound, and warehousing, to develop a comprehensive understanding of our supply chain operations.
What you'll do#
- Lead and support the execution of daily operations by working directly alongside team members.
- Track key performance indicators including safety, teamwork, quality, and productivity to identify gaps and drive consistent performance.
- Carry out process improvement initiatives to create efficient, lean operations.
- Administer communication between the IT and operations teams to address system issues.
- Conduct audits to ensure adherence to safety, quality, and productivity standards.
- Provide feedback and coaching to team members based on audit observations and performance.
- Lead daily planning meetings to set goals and organize shift plans.
What you'll need#
- Participation in school or extracurricular activities, including experience in leadership roles.
- A strong interest in working in retail, specifically within supply chain facilities.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the initiative to take on new challenges.
- Team-oriented thinking and an enthusiasm for continuous learning.
- Ability to access all levels and areas of the facility.
