About the role#
TalkingPoints is seeking a Finance & Accounting Intern to support our operations team. This hands-on role provides exposure to real-world accounting systems, payroll operations, and financial reconciliation. The intern will work closely with the finance team to maintain accuracy across financial processes during a period of growth and system modernization.
What you'll do#
- Process and categorize corporate card transactions.
- Assist with expense reviews, reimbursement approvals, and receipt follow-up.
- Support bank and credit card reconciliation by matching transactions and flagging duplicates.
- Manage vendor invoice processing, including data entry, coding to appropriate accounts, and routing for approval.
- Assist with month-end reporting, including accruals, journal entries, and closing schedule preparation.
- Maintain balance sheet accounts and flag discrepancies.
- Assist with grant and restricted fund tracking, including maintaining grant schedules.
- Support 1099 preparation, including collecting W-9s and tracking vendor payment totals.
- Organize financial documentation and maintain record-keeping systems.
- Utilize AI tools to improve finance team efficiency.
What you'll need#
- 3+ years of relevant accounting, bookkeeping, administration, or finance-related education.
- Proficiency with RAMP, QBO, Mosaic, and Salesforce.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in data entry and financial transactions.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Location & details#
- This is a remote, part-time position (up to 29 hours per week).
- The role is based in the United States.
- Compensation is $20-$22 per hour, depending on experience.
- This is a rolling internship opportunity.
