About the role#
The Synchrony Emerging Technology Center at the University of Illinois Research Park is hiring interns for Summer 2027. This role focuses on advancing internal capabilities in artificial intelligence, data science, and other emerging technology domains to create value for our customers. You will work closely with our Innovation Station and subject matter experts to deliver projects for business stakeholders.
What you'll do#
- Conduct market and technology research.
- Perform big data analytics and data visualization.
- Create proof-of-concept projects.
- Engage in software development.
- Handle special projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student at the University of Illinois.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Familiarity with Agile project management methods.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong critical thinking, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
- Must be 18 years or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
Location & details#
This is a full-time, paid internship based in Champaign, Illinois. The role operates on a hybrid schedule, requiring you to commute to the office for meetings, training, and events. We do not provide sponsorship for employment visas.
