About the role#
The Synchrony Emerging Technology Center at the University of Illinois Research Park is hiring interns for the Winter 2027 term. You will work with our Innovation Station and subject matter experts to advance internal capabilities in artificial intelligence, data science, and other emerging technology fields. This role is part-time and provides an opportunity to contribute to projects that create value for our customers.
What you'll do#
- Deliver projects for business stakeholders.
- Perform basic market and technology research.
- Conduct big data analytics.
- Create proof-of-concepts.
- Handle data visualization and software development tasks.
- Complete other duties and special projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- You are a full-time student at the University of Illinois pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or Statistics.
- You hold a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- You have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- You possess strong analytical skills and pay close attention to detail.
- You are a self-motivator who can work independently or in a team.
- You are familiar with Agile project management methods.
- You are proficient with Microsoft Office products.
- You are 18 years of age or older and hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
- You have legal authorization to work in the U.S. (we do not provide visa sponsorship).
- You can satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Champaign, Illinois.
- The role is hybrid, requiring the ability to commute to the work location for meetings and events.
- This is a paid, part-time internship.
