About the role#
STV is hiring a Data Engineering Intern for the Winter 2027 term. This is a part-time, on-site position based in Chicago, Illinois. You will work alongside our experienced team to design, develop, and maintain data pipelines while contributing to real-world projects that support our data-driven initiatives. This role is not eligible for sponsorship.
What you'll do#
- Develop data transformation pipelines for a wide variety of sources.
- Collaborate with team members to advance the use of data within the industry.
- Help build applications to display AEC data.
- Gain experience with data transformation technologies like Azure Data Factory and Pyspark.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis to find patterns and anomalies that inform model development.
- Create visualizations to present findings to stakeholders.
- Document analytical methodologies and code to ensure consistency.
- Contribute feedback during team meetings to support the learning process.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned to support project goals.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or Software Engineering.
- Hands-on experience with ETL processes and tools.
- Prior work on data projects using Python and database technologies.
- Experience with Python libraries like pandas and numpy.
- Familiarity with SQL for data extraction.
- Understanding of data modeling and database technologies such as MySQL, SQL Server, and MongoDB.
- Ability to communicate data modeling processes using ERD and other workflow diagrams.
- Basic knowledge of Git for version control.
