About the role#
STV is looking for a Structural Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This position provides an opportunity to work alongside our team to support bridge and infrastructure projects. You will gain experience in both office-based design tasks and on-site field activities.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design and analysis of bridges and other structures.
- Support the preparation of design calculations, construction drawings, and technical reports.
- Participate in the inspection and rating of existing structures.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to develop and present design information.
- Learn and apply relevant industry standards and best practices.
- Assist in preparing project documentation and perform various tasks to support project goals.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in civil engineering at an ABET-accredited university or NCEES equivalent.
- Experience in the architecture, engineering, or construction management industry.
- Familiarity with bridge inspection procedures like NBIS.
- Exposure to structural analysis software such as SAP2000, MIDAS, or CSI Bridge.
- Understanding of load rating calculations for bridges and non-destructive testing methods.
- Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or Revit.
- Understanding of AASHTO and DOT standards.
- Exposure to structural materials including steel, concrete, timber, and masonry.
Location & details#
- Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
- Modality: Hybrid, requiring at least 3 days per week in the office.
- Commitment: This is a full-time, paid internship. We prefer candidates who can commit to at least 3 months.
