About the role#
Strategic Management Solutions, LLC is hiring an intern for our Engineering department. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. You will work directly with our engineering staff to support client projects, gain hands-on experience, and receive mentorship from professional engineers. The internship runs from May 2027 through August 2027.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with engineers on the design and development of systems or structures.
- Create models using CAD software and other design tools.
- Gather and analyze data for engineering projects.
- Assist in preparing technical reports, presentations, and documentation.
- Prepare design calculations, requisitions, specifications, manuals, and user guides.
- Maintain project files and update records.
- Help track project schedules and timelines.
- Work with cross-functional teams.
- Seek feedback on your performance to improve your technical expertise.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an engineering program at an ABET accredited school.
- You must be entering your Junior or Senior year in Fall 2027, or be enrolled in a master's program.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- An active Real ID driver's license for badging and onboarding.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to solve problems independently with some direction.
- A positive attitude, good work ethic, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and meet deadlines.
