About the role#
The State of Florida Department of Transportation is seeking an OPS Communications Intern to join the Communications Office in Tallahassee. This part-time role offers an opportunity to support the Communications Director and the broader team with office operations, strategy development, and special projects. You will contribute to the department's mission by helping convey information about transportation initiatives and projects to the public, media, and internal staff.
What you'll do#
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and organizing work assignments and projects.
- Prepare and distribute external communications materials, including social media content and digital graphics.
- Develop and implement internal communications such as newsletters and leadership messages.
- Draft and disseminate general correspondence, including emails, letters, reports, and presentations.
- Monitor news stories and social media platforms to track relevant information.
- Provide back-up support to other members of the Communications Office.
- Collect, evaluate, and analyze data to support office operations.
What you'll need#
- Must be at least 18 years of age and authorized to work in the United States.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and TEAMS.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including attention to spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team setting.
- Skill in managing multiple tasks, tracking assignments, and meeting deadlines.
- Knowledge of administrative principles and general office procedures.
- Capacity to collect and review data for accuracy.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $15 per hour.
- Schedule: 10-15 hours per week.
