    About the role#

    The State of Florida Department of Transportation offers internships for students interested in careers within the transportation, construction, maintenance, and public administration sectors. You will work 20 hours per week, gaining practical experience while shadowing subject matter experts across various departments. This role allows you to choose a focus track in Engineering, Transportation, or Business, or design your own area of study.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist with tasks across multiple departments.
    • Perform technical work within your chosen focus track.
    • Conduct research and provide insights to support agency initiatives.
    • Collaborate on team projects and contribute to organizational goals.
    • Interact with executive leadership, project managers, and external partners.

    What you'll need#

    • You must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Active enrollment in or acceptance to an accredited university, college, or vocational school.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Outlook, and Excel.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • The ability to work collaboratively in team environments.
    • Preferred majors include Civil, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Public Health, and Urban Planning.

    Location & details#

    • This is an on-site, part-time position paying $17.25 per hour.
    • Work locations include Fort Lauderdale and Davie, Florida.
    • This position does not offer visa sponsorship.
